I'm designing a reinforced concrete building, for a supermarket. It has reinforced concrete frames in each of the four sides of the
rectangle (40x25m), columns approximately every 6m, two levels of beams: +2.50 and +5 m. Steel trusses simply supported on corbels, to support lightweight roof tiles.
Being this an industrial building, what is the appropriate value of the response modification factor R to be taken: 7 as special concrete frames?, 2.5 as cantilever columns?, R = 5 if roof deck is braced in someway? , or a value for the forces perpendicular to the frames and one for the forces in the same plane?
