R Stamp?

I put a patch on a water tank for a well. It's a 2000 gallon tank and runs about 60 psi. The whole end is rusted and has sprung several leaks. Put a patch over the leaks and welded half of it, just to slow the leak until they can replace the tank. Now they are asking for a R stamp, which I don't have.
Is a R stamp needed for this type of repair?

Go to staples. They can make a rubber "R" stamp for you. Just one letter, shouldn't be all that expensive.

I’d have to give you an LPS for that TIG, but we might have to give this first time poster a bit of slack first 😉

Tell us to what code/standard etc., the subject water tank is made to and where is it it installed.

*** Per ISO-4126, the generic term 'Safety Valve' is used regardless of application or design ***

*** 'Pressure-relief Valve' is the equivalent ASME/API term ***

The tank is hooked to a well feeding some condos. I told them originally I couldn't repair it, but they insisted on at least slowing the leak. I've since moved 10 hours away and have no information on the tank. Pretty sure it's about 40 years old, and surprised the end hasn't fallen off yet.
Thanks for the info on getting a rubber R stamp. They would probably accept that.
I'm just going to let them know they're out of luck and can put the tank out of service.

Well given that you haven't actually repaired it asking for an R stamp is a bit rich.

Personally I wouldn't have touched it. A 2000 gallon tank at 60 psi will make quite an interesting flood when it breaks. Patching it is not doing anyone any good.
