Rafter and Girder in Tank Roof

Dear all
Can any one explain me the difference between rafter and girder in Tank roof design? Photos will be highly appreciated

The smaller radial beams that support the roof are the rafters.
The larger beams resting on the columns supporting the rafters are the girders.
