Railway track impact loading

Hi there,

I need some guidance on applying accidental load (load of railway track on substructural component). I have found the relevant requirements as per Design Code, but since I am rookie at such type of loading, I am not sure how to apply it. Any brief explanation/worked example/simplification would be appreciated.

We'll need some more details.

First of all, what sort of substructural components are you designing? What is the project? What design code are you using?

What is the railway track load?

And how is the railway track load considered "accidental"? Are we talking about a set of tracks that should be out of service, but might have a train accidentally routed to that location? Or are you talking about an accident where a train car rolls over off the tracks?

 

Well I figured it out after getting a document on EN for accidental load and then working out same for Australian approach since many similarities existed.
It is a highway overpass over railway track and derailment load needs to be considered as per AS. I attach the EN document for others too.
