Random Point Selection Issue

I've referenced this forum for quite a while but have never needed to post until now. I have to sets of data points taken from a CMM. When I select all of the data points in one set, it will number them in a difference order each time. I tried keeping the view the same but that did not work. I tried searching in the customer defaults for some point selection method but could not find anything. Any ideas why this might be and what to do to fix it?
