re: 110v Asynchronous motor wiring

i would be very grateful if someone could advise me on the following:
i have a 110v italian manufactured asynchronous motor
1.5 kw in size, rated at 20 amp.
the motor is wired with a 5 strand cable green, blue and brown and two black wires.the connections are in two horizontal rows:
W2. U2. V2.

U1. V1. W1. NB. NO CONNECTIONS ON V1.
wiring diagam as follows:

Q1. do i need to wire in capacitor? as motor seems to run ok
without them connected.
Q2. if i do need to wire up capacitor; to what and how?
q3. can i run this motor on 220v?

This is a bit strange. You are obviously talking about a single-phase motor because you mention the capacitor, and the 110V 1.5kW 20A rating is consistent with a single-phase motor. But the terminal markings U1,V1,W1 etc. are for an IEC (European) three-phase motor.

Please supply the full nameplate data i.e. what standard it is built to. What is meant by klixon and linea, are these switches?

I'm pretty sure it isn't built to NEMA (US) standards, so if it isn't IEC, what else can it be?

Hi UKpete
A klixon is a thermal overload. You have seen hundreds of them by other names. It's the bi-metal button about 3/4" in diameter in a bakelite housing with an internal switch that is a common overlode device on small motors and refrigerators. I believe that "Klixon" is a brand name.
"linea" is a Spanish line. Possibly an Italian line also?
The rest of your post is exactly what I wanted to say, but you said it better.

The connection instruction shown is very strange. Seems that the connection board of a 3-phase motor 6 leads was used to wire a single phase motor (5 terminals). If it runs the load properly and the current do not exceeds the nominal, leave it as is.
