Dear experts,

We have bought plenty PVSVs and Emergency Vents.

We have calibration certificate done by manufacturer and certified by third party.

The calibration was done almost 1 year ago.

Now we are planning to install these PVSVs and Emergency Vents on our tanks.

Do we need to re-calibrate before installing to the tanks ?

I did not see any validity in the calibration certificate.

Is there any standard for this issue ?

This falls under API, which gives huge latitude. What we have done is set a frequency based on service conditions - varies from annual to 5-years - and perform a visual inspection.

Concur that there is 'nothing to calibrate', BUT these vents have to be checked for operability, clear-of-obstructions [like wasp-nests and trash bags], and that the pallets are undamaged and that the added weights [if any] are still in place. Makes it more of a PM procedure than a true calibration. But it still needs to be performed regularly, and the results documented in the file for that tank.

Thanks Duwe6,

What do you mean by PM procedure ?
