I need to re-magnetise a small turbo-alternator(steam).

Unit output is 600W 32VAC. Machine is brushless, 2 pole permanent magnet with claw rotor. Rotor has been removed, and as such machine requires re-magnetising.

Presumably this can be achieved via electromagnet, but need to have some idea of flux densities required, orientation of electromagnet etc..

cheers

Cheaper and easier to replace the whole thing!
Re-magnetizing requires expensive setup and equipment.
Good for many units.......expensive for single unit.
Recommend buying new alternator.

I agree with labgeek. Incidentally, it is only the old cast magnets such as Alnico that demagnetize when you disassemble without a keeper; ferrite and rare earth (samarium-cobalt or neodymium-iron-boron) do not require a keeper. It is very difficult to demagnetize them except by taking them either to a very high temperature or subjecting them to very strong demagnetizing fields. For the same reason, they require very strong fields to magnetize them.

You may know that already, but I mention it just in case.

Suggestion: Try to contact the manufacturer tech support.
