I have a project in which I want to (1) import a deformed model from an .odb (orphan mesh); (2) create solid geometry through mesh to geometry; (3) modify the geometry; (4) Re-mesh; ...
Currently, I'm working on steps 2-4. In step 2 I'm using the SIMULIA mesh to geometry plugin to convert the database orphan mesh to geometry (I attached a .cae file with an example of the orphan mesh, associated reconstructed geometry, and the modified geometry to play with).
In step 3 I change geometry (Boolean style: extrude cut, revolve cut,etc...) based off some reference datums.
In step 4 I've had trouble re-meshing my geometry and this is where I need input on methodology.
I had originally thought of using the nodal mesh information from the orphan mesh and fixing just where I've modified geometry but I have not found this functionality in Abaqus CAE. I've also tried the general tools available in Abaqus CAE mesh module and was not able to able to mesh the geometry effectively, but this may be from not having much experience with Abaqus CAE.
What are your thoughts on getting through steps 2-4? Am I missing a simple solution?
