what would you like to see? ...not covered by confidentiality / proprietary design, of course.
vacuum distillation will separate the liquid impurities.
clay treatment will separate solid impurities and entrained water.

If I remember correctly:

1. Storage of incoming spent lubes should take care of the malodors (stench); a fact that would oblige selecting a site far away from populated areas.
2. A filtration or centrifugation step followed by atmospheric distillation are recquired prior to the vacuum step to eliminate solids, water and lights.
3. The vacuum distillation should better be carried out with wiped film evaporators.
4. The vacuum residue cannot be burbed "as is" in a fired heater because of the corrosion/erosion of burner tips.
5. Activated clay polishing (whether batch or continuous) may present waste disposal problems.
6 Modern plants replaced clay treatments with hydrofinishing.

Look for the following books:

"Refining Used Lubricating Oils" by J.Speight and D.Exall
"Design Aspects of Used Lubricating Oil Re-Refining" by F.Awaja and D.Pavel

If you cannot find them as hard copies, you can read them online at:

EmmanuelTop Thanks for sharing these valuable books, i already over viewed these books during re refining search on google, but unfortunately limited pages are shown in google online books. Can you plz share soft copies of these books in pdf or other related books soft copy?

Please guide me as a process engineer to maximize the yield what will be the important influential factors and constraints that i have to give preference. In short is there any priority list ? I think only an engineer who is currently working in re-refining company can give the answer but if any other process engineer share his experience that will be appreciate.
