I am going to design a caustic wash tower in ehtylene plant.Is there any one help me to find kenetic formula of the reaction between CO2 and NAOH.

Thank you

For the second-order reaction in aqueous solution:

CO2 + OH- [→] HCO3-

I found in the literature the Arrhenius equation:

ln k = ln A - Ea/RT

where:
A = 1.5[×]1010 L/(mol.s)
Ea = 38 kJ/mol
R = 8.314[×]10-3 kJ/(mol.K)
T = temperature, K

From the equilibrium reactions I infer that at pH~8.5 the dominant ion would be the bicarbonate, at high pH values carbonate predominates, at pH~10.5 carbonate and bicarbonate would have about equal concentrations.
