Record macro in Excel

It seems Excel 2007 does not record macros while working with shapes and lines. Am I missing something ? Is there a way around it?

Thanks Doug. I am not going back to 2003 though, It performs funny with windows 7. The sheets in the workbook become transparent sometimes.
 
What is it you are trying to do? Perhaps we can help, or atleast make fools of ourselves trying.

Windows 7 has settings for making things transparent under certain conditions.
