Rectangular Tension Test Specimen in AWS D1.1? 1

Hi Gents,

I am fresh in Welding field and started with AWS D1.1. I need to make a weld test coupon from a 8in pipe. I found it Figure 4.7-B. I need to make Bend, Tensile, CVN Tests for it. Regarding to tensile I have wall thickness of 13.5mm and I need to make rectangular tension test specimen from it. Where are the details in AWS D1.1?

Pardon me in advance if question is wrong! (and give your kind suggestion to make this as right question).

D1.1, Clause 4 includes sketches (figures) of the machining requirements for the guided bend test and reduced section tensile test specimens.

You can also refer to AWS B4.0 Mechanical Testing of Weld for additional direction.

The rounded sections of pipe are machined to make all four sides rectangular and parallel. The concave side (the root) must retain some of the root deposit in the machined specimen.
