Hi all,

if you have created a RectPattern of some Holes, is there a function to
f.e. chamfer the seed hole and that it finds that the Hole is used in a Pattern,
so it Chamfers all the PatternHoles?
UG users know this as " .... all Instances" .... can be Blend, Chamfer, Thread, ...

Thanxs

hi,

try creating hole then chamfer, then ctrl - select the hole and chamfer, pick the rectangular pattern function and apply your desired parameters.

The pattern should then be applied to hole + chamfer.

Well thanxs for the tip, but it isn't exactly what I'm looking for.
I would like to do the Chamfer later then the Pattern, this to OK with the Design Rules - Blends, Chamfers, etc. at the end of your Tree.

Dear Friend

you can use the boolean feature for your requirement Create a partbody with reqd. features and make a rectangular pattern by seleting the solid and not the features.
nnow after that you remove them from the Base body.

Now if you want to add a feature eg. Chanfer make the feature before pattern as current add the command and then update it
it will automatically take care of the other holes

I just closed my first response window so I'll start over.

You might try doing the following if possible.

Create a surface using the face of your hole and the placement surface as the boundary after your chamfer. Use the surface to trim the solid then pattern the feature.
You should be able to suppress the chamfer or remove it without affecting the Patterned hole.

I understand where you're comming from having used the All Instances Option in UG and Ref Patterns in Pro/E. They reduce a lot of work. It would be a great addition to Catia and hopefully it's being developed.

Thanx for the replies,

as I understand from Michael there is no direct function for this feature operation.

I will do the Pattern with Hole+Chamfer

I am indeed used to work with UG and was also V4 user.
Now I get trained(self) in V5, I already got pretty far, I like a lot of functions, but now I come to a point where I need more information of "how is this done in CATIA"?
I know (CATIA)people don't like it to compare, most of the functions work as well in CATIA as in UG, but for some I have nothing in my manuals, so this Forum is ideal!
