Recycling of used tungsten carbide inserts 1

Hi All,
I work in a small machine shop and for years we have been saving our used inserts. Does anybody know if there are companies who can recycle these inserts?

The market varies day to day.

Emily, here, says she is paying at least $4.50 a pound.

Try your local yellow pages first. The cost of shipping carbide can eat into your profits.

Here is our current adv. for scrap

Scrap Carbide $200 a coffee can
A coffee can of scrap carbide weighs about 40# to 60#. It costs $8.10 to ship it by flat box USPS (US Mail) and $12 if you want to send it certified. It is worth at least $5.00 a pound now and maybe more. That comes to about $200 to $300 for a coffee can of carbide.

$1.50 a pound for Stellite® scrap.

Ship Your Scrap to Us Cheaply
U.S. Post Office has Flat Rate boxes. They are $8.10 each. You can ship as much weight as you want, anywhere you want for just $8.10. 2 sizes available- 11.875" X 3.375" X 13.625"
(514 cu .in) and 11" X 8.5" X 5.5"
(546 cu. in.) You can’t track them but they are a cheap shipping method for heavy objects.

Even grinding sludge can be worth as much as $0.90 a pound if you grind a lot of carbide

We're up to at leat $5 a pound - a 2# coffee can is worth about $200

The postal service has a real deal on boxes. I think you can send about 40# anywhere in the US for a little over $8.
