reducers in hdpe pipeline

Hello,

I have this question: I am installing a overland pipeline for service of slurry, I have transitions of size changes of 40'' to 48''mm, The pipeline is of HDPE material, and the reducers are flat bottom with the same material,using stub end flanges for the conections.
My question is if with this kind of reducer my system could be have wear problems, what do you think to install a rubber lined carbon steel reducers instead the original. Is this a better option

HDPE is normally good at slurry transportation and has good resistance to wear so there isn't much obvious sense in adding rubber lined, but al lot depends on what ths "slurry" is and what velocity you're running at.

That though is a big pipeline if you mean 40 inch to 48 inch, but then you added mm?

My fluid is tailing (waste) from a copper processing plant and the velocity of my fluid is 1.2-1.8 m/s.
I work in the designing team and the idea of rubber lined was from construction team.
I agree with you, I dont see a problem using HDPE reducer.

About ''mm'' that was a typing error.
