Wow. There is stuff there, like the mechanical properties data and the case and core hardness data that I have never seen anywhere before.
 
Thanks George! It took me about 10 seconds to download that at work-- just amazing what can be done with the internet for archiving older references like this.

Maybe I'm just having trouble reading, but anyone know what year that is from?
 
I would say around 1960.
 
I know it's older than my 1980 edition that I still keep handy. It was published before 5-digit zip codes were established though. It is really neat to see the old terminology - my book doesn't define troostite or scleroscope!
 
And 90% of the steel made was open hearth.So, yes, around 1960.
