I am looking for a reference for electric motor shaft design. I see that NEMA MG 1 has some guidelines. What other references (book, textbook, standard, other) are available for learning about this component. I am interested in materials, manufacturing processes, assembly, sizing, and tolerances (straightness/runout, surface finish, etc.).

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Regards,

Cory

The folks that offer "partial" motors (shaftless rotor and stator sets) include some specs for making shafts and finishing the assembly.

Corypad, best and i can say preferred is EASA Mechanical Handbook and its related manual. Here, i usually refer our machine shaft rebuilding, fit tolerance, babbit bearing repair and restoration, also includes procedure, etc.
