References - Stiffened Seat/Bracket

Folks,
Are there any good references, design examples for a stiffened beam seat or a bracket plate showing what things need to be checked?

As I visualize it, the stiffener is under compression and the seat plate to column flange is in tension. Right? Are there other things to be checked?
