Hello,

We are planning to remove some of our outdated/old controls from the doors of one of our control gear lineups.

To save some time we are make a large plate and mount all of our new controls on this plate. Then we will shutdown and remove all of the old controls and cut a large opening to suit the plate - gasket and install.

My question is that we will be using truss slot stainless steel bolts all around the plate (about 16 @ 3/4")...

Do we have to supply a bonding lug on the plate or is the bonding lug currently on the door good enough to bond the device through the bolts?

Regards,
TULUM

Also,

The weather stripping will be in between the plate and the door - making the head of each bolt touch the plate and the nut of each bolt touch the door...

Hi tulum
How about using one bolt made of cadmium bronze.
The stainless will serve, but one cadmium bronze bolt will remove all arguments and speculation.

To ensure that you don't have any problems, whether in reality or in the minds of any inspectors who may look at it, run a bond wire from the main panel to the door and to the new plate.

I would. How difficult can that be? Eliminates the possibility of poor metal-to-metal contact of the bolt heads or nuts, corrosion buildup, paint issues, any thing like that which may occurr in future service work.

I'm with davidbeach and jraef. A bonding jumper will satisfy everyone.
