Dear All,

I am designing a rack system for storing the Building façade Aluminium profile. I tried to find the live load from the codes but didn't found any reference. I checked ASCE-7, IBC and BS6399 but didn't found. Most of the codes having recommendation for Books and files and industrial storage. By going through the codes and studying I came to a value of 5 kPa per meter height of storage. Is this is fair enough? Or there is some reference. It is also not fair to consider very heavy loads as Aluminium profile are light weight with thin wall. please suggest.

I have a very hard time believing this question.

1. Either weigh 1 profile or ask a mfg. what they weigh.

2. Count the number you want to store and multiply one number by the other and you have your load.

You can make this as complicated as you wish.

Put the load on the structure.
