Reinforced Concrete Design Software to EC 2 1

Hi Guys,

I am currently in my final year at University in the UK and we have to design a RC office block with FULL detail including all associated RC drawings.

Can anyone recommend a software package which is user friendly in terms of designing RC members. Also, if there is a facility in the software which outputs a report detailing the clauses to EC2 it has adhered to that would be fantastic. Like what AutoDesk structural bridge design does.

We are mainly carrying out the design using hand calcs and then drawings in CAD, however, the software will allow us to make changes which is what we are definitely going to do. Therefore, the software will save us a lot of time.

Also, we haven't really been taught strut and tie models at University, however, software with this capability will also be great for personal reasons.

I appreciate any input, again, i'm new to this forum ands i'm not sure if there are similar threads but I did have a search and couldn't find any relevant ones.

First off, technically no homework allowed.

Secondly, There aren't any programs that successfully design in strut and tie (that I have heard of)

Lastly, If you go about creating a spreadsheet to do your calcs for you as you run the hand calcs the first time (i.e. create your spreadsheet as you do your hand calcs) and you can make all the changes you want and your spreadsheet can run your new numbers for you.

Most engineers only perform hand calcs the first few times before they make some form of spreadsheet to help out. I've got one I've made for concrete columns (both axial and bending with code checks) and concrete beams and slabs. One day maybe I'll get pro-active and combine them into one large concrete workbook.
