Hi All,
I have currently completed the deck design of a single span rectangular portal frame bridge structure which is reinforced concrete.
The structural analysis approach I opted for was to model the entire structure in 3D using a grillage analysis to get the force effects to design the deck and portal walls.
My question is when designing the footing, am I correct in assuming the the main reinforcement will be along the length of the support whilst the reinforcement in the transverse direction will be less critical.
Will also appreciate any literature/worked examples on the subject. I have attached two clip of a plan and cross section of the bridge in question.
Any help will be much appreciated.
cheers.
