I'm having a REliance motor(AC, 315KW, TEWC, MINE motor).
on the connection end, there's a bolted socket (Victor produts,type:30SR/A).
Anybody could please tell what this used for with details, thanks.

I'm guessing the motor is supplied with the connector as a unit by Victor Products:

The website is not directly helpful, but it appears that if you're using electricity in a coal mine, you'll be dealing with these guys.

The more general answer is that where there's a plug and socket connector at a unit interface, you don't need a union electrician to replace the unit.

The motor that you are describing is probably an explosion-proof motor - also referred to as a permissible motor. The motor is water cooled, which is another indication that it is explosion proof (X/P). n the mining industry, there are two ways to connect a cable to an X/P motor - one is by entering the cable thru a "packing gland", and the other is by using an explosion proof plug and socket connection (made by Victor, TJB, and others). Each assures that the connection between the motor and the outside world is also explosion proof. The choice between the two is based on personal preference, past practice, available space, existing approval documentation, etc.
