Nfpa requires a 30 percent increase for slopes more than 2/12. It does not seem to address a curved roof as found in a large quanset type structure. First, there is no way to determine the slope if the roof is curved, right? Second, would the increase apply to curved roofs since it is the same condition present that the increase is required to correct, i.e. skipping? The sprinkler pipe is also curved to follow the roof contour.

I typically just look at the vertical distance from the low point to high point and then divide by the horizontal from the low to high. If that is greater than 2:12, then I apply the 30%.

The configuration of the piping has nothing to do with applying the 30% increase or not.
