Has anyone tried to remove O2 from a gas engine driver exhaust using a membrane? G. Gordon Stewart, P.Eng.

don't know about gas engines, but there was an attempts to use membranes for o2 removal in diesel engines. you can find the data in the following paper: Poola, R.B., et al. "Membrane-Based Nitrogen-Enriched Air for NOx Rediction in Ligh-Duty Diesel Engines." SAE Paper 2000-01-0228
