How do you remove a part from a part family?

If the line from excel is removed, and the reference is cut from Teamcenter is there another step to remove references?

Has the part ever been used in an assembly?

Not sure you can remove the references in TC.

There is also the physical file of that instance on disk/in TC to be removed, if you can.

Why do you need to do this?
