I've just copied in a whole load of manhole drawings from somebody elses drawing - old company / new company - only to discover that when I change the text style the formatting within the text remains. Its easy enough to open the text box and control all and control space and enter but this takes too long and I expect the problem to crop up again later.

Is there a solution, routine I guess, which will remove formatting from all mtext entities? Cheers.

You could determine what font is being used, then change the shx file.

Sounds clever. I've never tried to edit an shx file before. How do you do it.

Copy it to another name (to make a backup), then copy the shx file you want to replace it with to that name. IE: if it is now RomanS and you want it to be Simplex, copy RomanS to RomanSOld and then copy Simplex to RomanS. Caveat: other computers will not have this done and will show the text as RomanS.

Hold the phone - I just read your initial post. You were trying to remove formatting - not change the font. Formatting is bold, underline, tab settings, etc. What I have written above will not do this but is a cheap way to change a font to another without changing each text style, etc.

I do not know if you can explode a mtext group.
It may be worth a try to see if it converts the
group to single text.
