Remove mass vs direct external force applied?

In SolidWorks CAE, what's the difference between remote mass and direct external force applied?
What are some use cases for these techniques?

For example in this tutorial by SolidWorks, why can't we divide the engine by 2 and add the force to the area of contact?

[FEA way]

It works in a different way and is defined differently. Masses, unlike forces, can work in frequency analyses too. And remote masses can move under prescribed displacement/velocity. But go ahead and compare both approaches (remote mass and equivalent force) in your case.
