I looking for a method to remove the black film coating (carbon?) from A2 tool steel after it has been hardened to Rc50 without destroying the substrate. I know grit blasting or using scotch brite works, but I'm hoping there is a chemical I can use instead. Is anyone familar with how to accomplish this?
