I can't figure out how to change the file name of an assembly that has virtual components in it without causing the references to become out-of-context. The virtual components are still looking for the original name of the assembly. Even save all as copy doesn't seem to work.

Anyone solve this before or know of a workaround?

Thanks,
Matt

I talked with my VAR and got it. Not only do you have to save as, rename, check references and save all as copy, but then you need to go into explorer, select the assembly, open up the references tab and replace all of the aforementioned out-of-context references.

MattBD,

You have to rename the components that are to remain in context. That way, you do not disturb the original assembly.

This is as it should be, I think.

If you just want to change the assembly file name (as seen in a Windows folder) you should be able to do so in a regular Windows folder ... without losing virtual references.

I just tried (SW08-SP3.0) using both SW Explorer and then with a Windows folder and neither presented any problems. The assy opened up fine and no errors were showing.

Am I mis-interpreting your question?
