Rendering settings

Is there a way to save the settings used for rendering. It is very difficult
to remember exactly how an image was achieved and saving would be a real
time saver?
I'm using Wildfire

You can save any light or color files you create.

I mapkey the generic settings: resolution, file name, etc.
