Renewal performance qualification of welder/operator ASME IX (2017)

Dear Gents,

I am doing renew for my welder base on ASME IX 2017, i have confusion about timeline.

For example: welder qualified SMAW in Jan.1.2018 basically will be expired after 6 months in Jun.1.2018. He weld continuously until Arpil.1.2018 it is mean the last used date of SMAW is April.1.2018

My understanding is: Base on ASME IX - 2015 need to show welding continuity log within duration of 6 months for renewal 6 month extension and new expired date is Jan.1.2019. Base on new code ASME IX - 2017 need to show welding continuity log as well but the new expired date is September.1.2018 it be got from April.1.2018.

So base on ASME IX - 2017 am i correct?

If the welder last used the process on April 1 2018 his qualification will expire on Oct 1 2018.
