Hi,

As anybody come across a repair method for a Subsea Corrosion Resistance Alloy [CRA] internal clad pipeline? Please describe your experience.

Split sleeves and Mechanical connectors work well with carbon steel pipeline. Repairs for CRA clad pipeline needs to maintain corrosion resistant after repair.

There should be approved weld and weld repair procedures debeloped at the time of project start-up. If the damage is corrosion failure at a weld then the weld repair procedure should be followed and hyperbaric welding may be necessary.

If its a section of pipeline which has suffered mechanical damage bad enough to require full replacement of the damaged section then have fabrcated a clad pup-piece of sufficient length to replace the damaged area. Then hyperbarically cut the latter and weld in place the pup-piece using the approved weld procedure.

narenr,

I thought you knew that and were looking for something suitable for an emergency repair. Not to say that a claded repair clamp could not be developed.

Nigel,

The clamp system was designed as a more cost effective alternative to divers and hyperbaric welding, but if the water depth allows, why not?
