Hi

I'm always need to break a link object before
replace it with it's linked object revision.

Because without breaking it its difficult
to replace it.

Do someone know how to do the replace without breaking.

Thanks in advanced.

Are you using "Replace component"?

I'd also look into revision rules(native) or Teamcenter to manage things. Then you don't have to manually replace when you up rev components.

If you have the source file and all the linked files open in session when doing a "save-as" on the source file, the links will update correctly. However, if you are using native NX, finding all of the linked files can be difficult, if not impossible. Native NX does have a "where-used" function, but it is too slow to be of much use.

I think I was not clear in my post
and I need to add some information.

I have a part named oom_sketches
that contain 6 sketches (with some links between them)
contain sketches only.

Now I build a new part and name it my_model
And add to it the previous part as a component

(Forgot to say that eche sketch has a refset
With refset name the same as the sketch name)

Now I start to build my model as follows
I right click the oom_sketches component
and set the refset that I want (mainly the sketch that I want)

and using the geometry linker I do a link to that sketch

And now I apply extrude , revolve ...
and so on I continue to build my model9

Now if I modify any sketch in oom_sketches
And go to its linked and double click it
Have problem but if I break the link and
Then double click its O

Have problem but if I break the link and
Then double click its OK

I'm using NX8.5
Also double click and select from the graphics window
is not always comfortable.
I think NX should supply a dialogue box
To choose from.

Something like the reference set dialog

That might be because of the way you use reference sets.
If you switch to another reference set then the original geometry is no longer available for the link. Therefore if you double click it doesn't do anything anymore.
NX knows the link is there but because it doesn't have the original geometry available it "doesn't allow" you to change it.

Logically, when you break the link the sketch is treated as stand alone geometry.

Hi Ronald and thank you

I'm aware of that and as I said in my post
before double clicking the linked sketch
I right clicking the sketches component
and set its to the refset of the sketch that
I want to double click its link.

So I have what you say I have not.

Again thank you for responding.

Actually mostly the geometry is updated.

But if I change the name of the sketch its
Linked name not updated
unless I break it before I double click it.

Check "Load Interpart Data" dialog in Load Options dialog box.

Hi eex23
I'm thank you

What should be the setting for
the interpart data be ?
that this will work.

As I explained in my previouse post

I have a part named oom_sketches
that contain 6 sketches (with some links between them)
contain sketches only.

Now I build a new part and name it my_model
And add to it the previous part as a component

So I think I do not need setting the interpart data
because the links data are open anywaw.
when I laod "my_model" also "oom_sketches" loaded.

Thank you again.

"Load interpart data" checkbox should be checked if you use wave links. All wave links will not update properly, if that setting won't be checked.
If possible, please attach here some example of what you are doing.
We also had some problems with wave links (we use lots of mirror assemblies with wave linker). But our problems mostly were concerned with positioning of components.

Now when that happen again
I'll track the setting of
Load interpart data

I haven't problem to correct my links.

I only think something not behave consistantly.

Say Load interpart data not set
But the linked object and its parent
are opened is this situation is the same
as Load interpart data is set

Thanks

Hi vegetagaru

I'll take that in my attention
when I'll using link relink works

and thank you.
