Replacement of parts within SW2003

Dear Folks;

If I modify a part of an assembly off-site and then wish to return the corrected part to the assembly do I delete the old part within windows explorer and replace it with the new part ?

Is there a preffered method for doing this so that file pointers still remain correct. I understand that relations may have to be edited where referenced faces have been modified or removed.

You can do it a number of different ways.

1) You can do a reload or replace once the assembly is opened in SW.

2) Do it your way, by simpling replacing the file in the windows directory.

3) Use SW explorer and open the assembly and do a replace.

NOTE

When replacing a part in the assembly using the methods above you may receive a message saying that the "internal ID of the document does not match" just say okay to this and accept the replacement part...it is not an error message merely telling you that the part may be different.
