Replacing Start Assembly

Is there a way to replace a start assembly. I have an assembly with 35 parts and a drawing to match. This assembly contains an old start assembly with old relations, layers, etc. Apparently the old start assembly has relations that cause the upper assemblies(with new start assembly template) to hang up when opening. Any suggestions?

The only solution I know is to manually fix the existing part to match the requirements of your current startparts.
Startparts are just that, the starting preset values for building upon so you don't have to do everything from scratch on every new part.

I have heard that Modelcheck can be used to set/change values that may have changed after the startpart has been used for an original part. Haven't had time to get that for in the implementation of Pro, yet.

Here's something that you can do: Use the RESTRUCTURE command.

Make a new, blank assembly, using the required start assembly.

Assemble the "problamatic" assembly. Use default.

Select each component and restructure them one by one to the new, top-level assembly.

Once done, delete the "old" assembly from the new one.

Redefine each component with the missing contraints. This should go pretty fast.
