I am a member of the Working Group developing IEEE P1547.2 Draft Application Guide for IEEE 1547 Standard for Interconnecting Distributed Resources with Electric Power Systems. We are including a general description of power systems. This information should be helpful since the siting and interconnection of distributed generation is likely to include many individuals whose understanding of power systems may be limited. The Working Group is heavily North America oriented, and I thought that I would ask the readers of this forum for a more worldwide perspective. I feel sure that the information that I am requesting is already tabulated in some refernece book, if so I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

We wish to describe, in fairely simple terms, the transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution systems. We intend to include the following:

System Classification - (Trans, Sub-Trans, or Distri)
Source grounding
Number of Phases
Neutral if present
Type of phase relationship - delta / wye (star)
Nominal System Voltages
Radial or Networked
AC or DC

Most power systems have multiple nominal system voltages for each level, transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution. My desire is to include a representative description of the systems in international use today. I have heard of some unique systems, but I am confident that there are probably many that are unfamiliar to me. The inclusion of a general description of the various systems, currently in use, might prompt questions or thoughts that could save money and time as future distributed generation projects are developed.

I would appreciate any information that you may think would be helpful.

I suggest to control the UCTE documents and the grid codes of European countries.
