Could anyone summarize what you believe are the FEMA survey requirements for bridges in an AE study? Based on the old 2003 FEMA Guidelines and Specs, it appears size/shape of opening, invert elevations, type of wingwalls/vertical abutments, deck thickness, high/low chord elevations, embankment sideslope, width of roadway, and roadway profile would be required. Subsequent guidance (2009 or 2016) is not as detailed, and I've been told the survey standards are now left up to the engineer/surveyor, but subject to FEMA approval.

If you have as-built plan sets (old NGVD29 datum), can these be used in place of new survey data if converted to NAVD88? I'm curious what everyone else has experienced in working through a new AE study.

Thanks!

I am preparing to ask for As-Built survey on a recent bridge project for my LOMR submittal. I am planning to request the same data you just cited. In addition, I am asking for cross sections upstream and downstream of the new bridge. Really, it is to identify what has changed since construction of the bridge. Hope that helps, I have coordinated with the FEMA Reviewer that approved the CLOMR. It doesn't hurt anyone to call to discuss what they (FEMA) will be expecting.
