Requirement for U1 Form

I have a small filter housing (22 gallons) that is an ASME pressure rating vessel (and is stamped as such). However, it did not come with a U-1. I was told this was not required on such a small vessel - is this true?

I believe if it was stamped with a UM symbol a copy of the Cert of Conformance ( U3) should be made available upon request.
