Rerating casing design pressure and temperature

Hi all, just wondering how do we rerate pump casing design temperature? (Say design is 150F, but wanna rerate it to 200F)

For pressure, we can perform hydrotest at 1.5x the new pressure to determine. What about temperature?

The first obvious question is what is the material of the pump casing?

I would be looking at seal materials. Increasing to 200F will drastically shorten the service life of some elastomers.

Agreed, talk to the seal vendor to see if this max operating fluid temp of 200degF, and at the new max operating pressure is possible.

Apart from temperature limitation of the elastomer, is there any other aspect that we should be concerned?

Possible additional stress caused by extra expansion, possible material reduction in yield or strength, especially for cast materials, corrosion resistance,

So many possibilities that only the vendor will be aware of.

If this pump is on VSD, there may be further constraints on min permissible speed, which may require a recirc seal fluid cooler to keep the seal cool at low speeds.
