To anyone that can help,

I am modelling a projectile impacting a ductile metal plate (Titanium)...

A picture of the output of my model at the moment is shown here:

My problem is the velocity of the projectile. Once the projectile hits the plate it does not slow down as expected.

My projectile is a discrete rigid shell simply with a Ref Point added and an inertia applied. In the step module I select boundary conditions, click the reference point and enter a velocity. I have requested an output of the velocity of the reference point in history output, the graph shows the velocity of the projectile is constant throughout the step. This happens for whatever I set the initial velocity as (tried 10ms-1 to 250ms-1).

Any ideas?

I can provide more info if need be. Any criticisms of my model are welcome.

Luke

Solved..

I was defining a boundary condition rather than an initial condition.
I was imposing a velocity on my projectile rather than applying an initial velocity.
