Hi,

I need to simulate the following (see the file attached):
1 -) Apply the load to align the edges
2 -) Weld the two pieces
3 -) Remove the load

So what is the residual stress and displacement?
After I will apply the workloads.

I don't know how "weld" the edges after to simulate the load.

I'm using "2D Behavior" simulation with the option "Axisymmetric", because it is

a cylindrical model.

Is it possible?

Somebody can help me?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve never done this in workbench, but in classic I have done something almost identical. The analysis is highly nonlinear and uses the ‘ekill’ and ‘ealive’ commands. You will need young’s modulus v’s temperature for the parent and weld material. Not always easy to find.

Thanks, but I don't want to analyze the weld. I want to analyze just the parts, how show the picture.
So I want to joint the edges after the simulation with load (as was the weld), and then remove the load, then solve again.
Thanks in advanced.

Hi

I thick this can be done with simple contact.
1)define contact with a small pinnbal so that in initial position there is no contact, contact type Bondend.
2) aplly the load and after the load is applied make sure the contact is now in contact.
3) remove the load the contact will now transfer the forces.
