As an alternative to Rubber lining we are considering a vinyl ester resin GRP lining for an 85 Deg C big steel tank. We have successfully used such coatings at ambient conditions. We have also had good results with small patches at this higher temperatures but I've now got some reservations because I've seen a couple of failed resin coatings on similar duty. However, I can't decide if they failed due to poor work standards or if it is that resin coatings have their limits. Unfortunately we don't have time to do any tests.
The steel tank will be lagged, and has an internal steam sparge pipe.
Please has anyone experience regarding this problem ??
Any comments much appreciated.
