Dots-per-inch = total pixels (usually width) divided by inches width of image. Any image of a given number of pixels can be any DPI by allowing the size to change.

Because you selected the render window as output that fixed the number of pixels; the DPI is pretty much meaningless at that point - you could have it attached to a projector with each pixel a foot wide.

As the previous responders already have said,
The output size of the image is set to 509x514 pixels. With the 300dpi resolution this should become an image if printed pixel by pixel in 300 dpi : 509/300 x 514/300 => on paper ~1.7x1.7 inch.( ~ 43 mm x 43 mm).

I once rendered an image of a propeller arrangement for a ship... This image was to be printed over 3 paper posters for a trade show in 300 dpi. The posters were 24x36 inches.
I then calculated the total printed width in inches , 3 x 24 , multiplied that with 300 to get the total width in pixels.
the resulting tif file was larger than what Windows could open :) but the Mac used by the printshop had no problems.

Regards,
Tomas
