Hello everyone.

I'm new in this forum and also in abaqus analysis.

I'm trying to model a resonant bending fatigue test in abaqus but I have some problems.

The experimental test has an eccentric mass at the pipe tip which rotates, generating the pipe oscillation.

First I used a linear perturbation-frequency step to check the natural frequency and the nodes positions for the first mode.

Then, I tried to use "steady state dynamics, direct" step (with a frequency close to the natural frequency) and applied a downward force equal to the centripetal force (caused by the mass) at the pipe tip .

However, I'm not sure if its the right way to model that, since I'm not familiar with this kind of simulation.

What I need as a final response is the stress levels and the aceleration so I can compare with experimental data.

Can someone help me with that?

Thanks in advance.

Abaqus is not a fatigue tool.

When you do a SSD, you apply a harmonic load and you get the harmonic response. Damping is an important factor for the result.
I recommend you take closer look into the Users Manual and maybe the Getting Started first.

Thanks for your response Mustaine3.

My idea is to simplify the physics behind the test so I can run it on Abaqus and compare to the strain levels an aceleration obtained experimentally.

As I said before, I don't know much about SSD.

I didn't find any good example explaining how SDD and the damping fraction works, even in the manual.

Am I in the right way for this modeling using SSD?

Thanks
