I have been asked to design a structure similar to a porte coche for the entry way of an auditorium. It consists of a roof which is attached to the front of the building along one edge and supported by columns along the opposite side. I would like to figure out the fundamental period of the structure for use in ASCE 7-02 Eqn 9.5.5.2.1-2 and Eqn 9.5.5.2.1-3 but all the values in ASCE 7-02 for estimating T are for much larger and more complicated structures. Usually steel frames or steel and concrete. Any ideas?

Thanks

It will take the period of the building that it is attached to since the greater mass will govern the whole. A flexible attachment or free standing will give different values.
