Dear users
currently I'm simulating a composite plate subjected to low velocity impact, I'd like to add the second impact from the results of the first impact, for this I've adopted the restart technique, when I do all the steps and start the calculation, the impactor rebounds and going far from the composite plate, what's the solution so that the impactor drop for the second time in the composite plate. I will be delighted if someone can explain to me
Best regards

If you want the impactor to hit the plate again after rebound then divide the analysis into two steps: first one will include initial impact and rebound and then second step (restart) will add new loading so that the impactor hits the plate again.

If the impactor is rigid then you can also use multiple impactors as described in this thread:

Sounds like this may be a dynamic analysis with an initial velocity for the impactor?
If so, maybe you would be more interested in using the *Import keyword to bring the damaged part into a new analysis which could be setup with initial velocities like the original. Otherwise, you may need a sudden force to reverse velocity of the impactor.

Dear FEA way Thanks for your answer ,when i perform a new step the load display that the predifined load propagated from the first step to second , i will supress the first load ?2-On the other hand ,preveousely i tested the multiple impactor, the problem that when i do multiple impactor the simulation run without cohesive ,i want to insert cohesive elements between adjacent plies , in addition in results the displacements of impactors start in the original point to final and it's not the real displacement.

Dear oldNail Thanks for your answer ,yes the simulation used the dynamic explicit, your suggestion i think that it will work better but i don't know how i will import or transfer the results of first impact as first condition to the second impact, can you explain more ?

Hello aghilass,

Please see this section of the manual:

the manual said:
Abaqus also provides the capability to transfer desired results and model information from an Abaqus/Standard analysis to a new Abaqus/Standard analysis or from an Abaqus/Explicit analysis to a new Abaqus/Explicit analysis, where additional model definitions may be specified before the analysis is continued.
