Restriction Orifices for Non Newtonian fluids

Hello all,

Another question regarding Non-Newtonian fluids:

Is anyone aware of the appropriate approach for sizing restriction orifices when the fluid is Non-Newtonian? Initially I am using the same equations as per incompressible fluids, and the only modification so far is that I am estimated the Cd with the corrected Reynolds number (power law, Bignham plastic or Herschel-Bulkley Reynolds).

As I mentioned in a previous post, my goal is to complete a hydraulic model of NN fluids (a simple one) just for testing purposes. I believe I am close to achieving it and at this point, I have equations for frictional pressure drop, pipe fittings and control valves. I hope that I can get some help/validation with the restriction orifices before finally looking at the pumps.

Best!

Hello IRstuff,

Actually, I was trying to follow the forum policies:
"Please do not ask a new question at the end of a thread on a different subject. It may well not get answered. If it's important enough to post, make it a new thread."

I think that even if they are related, restriction orifices and control valves are different topics and therefore I created a new post. However I will keep an eye on my questions to avoid this in the future.

Best!
