thread626-64614
I was a late finding this thread, however;
I have tried "Wind Funneling" to increase the rotational speed of a VAWT. With low wind velocity the turbine spun faster. However, with turbulent wind it was apposing the helical vanes and escaping around the turbine.
Last week the wind turbine survived wind speed in access of 100 Km/hr (~64 Miles/hr). It caused major damage to some of the funneled vanes. It will take me some time to repair the damage to tell you more.
